Introduction to Hungarian Early History

Introduction

Once a folkgroup of a Finnougrian ethnic stepped up during the Royal Days Festival in Székesfehérvár, Hungary. Having learned that they are our relatives I closed my eyes and tried to gave me up to the music as they started singing waiting for something stirring up my Hungarian soul. The song was beautiful, but I didn't get what expected, my soul was untouched as the time passed by. I was not in a bath with the music as I would.

That was the first time when the question raised in me, if we would be really relatives? All relatives understand each other without words, by the feelings and thoughts only.

After my studies should I presume that there is no other nation in Europe except Basques probably, those origin resides in so big obscurity like the Hungarians'.

The most accepted present theory is the concept of Finnougrian origin, based on linguistic and grammatical similarities. This concept was raised somewhere the end of the 18th century, that was taken up by German / Habsburg propagande very soon superseding the traditional national Hunnish-Hungarian relation, origin theory very quick. There was no interest to overview this Finnougrian theory in the comunist period, because it proved our origin from the very heart of the big brother. So this is the only accepted and supported present theory and the solution of the problem seems to be easy.

But this theory leaves many questions open those can catch the eyes for the first glance.
This question as I see was handled in a typical Hungarian way. The many heads, the many ideas, there is no agreement, but jarring only, than noding an external, "more mighty" powers, "yes, we are what you tell us to be". There is no unity, no steadiness. Where this attitude could come from?

Old Country

Where my lay researches could start? Of course our legends can be a good start point and of course many oppositions could be raised as legends are tales only and can't be considered authoritative . But I think, all legends have a seed of truth inside, that was covered with many thing or fraid, changed by the time, so the most important is to find this seed of truth in the legend.

Than come to my mind that my grandmother told many things about Jesus and the Hungarians giving also some books in the topics. One of those books was to my great luck the "Book of Legends" of Istvan Komjathy from 1964, where the author collected all the remained Hungarian legends.

The other book - as I had to be ensured of continuity - was the work "In the wake of Arpads" from Dezső Dümmerth.

In the collection of Istvan Komjathy have I found the following description of the Hungarian Old Country:
"Because the palace (tent of Nemere - Nimrod) was not just a kind of home! It had much adorned rooms, on gilded columns resting large hall, it was furnished for great comfort with great luxury. It was not just standing
anywhere. It was set up in the crossing of the four big caravan routes. The four routes ran to the four cardinal points. To the river Togora on the North, where the sun is shrouded in mist and never rises, the road is closed by the big rocky Rif Mountains there. There can be find crystal among the rocks of the Rif Mountain and treasure guarding griffin birds nestle there. Starting to the land of summer son, guides the way to India, and riding to East to the the far empire of legendary China defended by the Great Wall . Where the sun sets, flower ornamented steppes reach till the Round Sea."

Fortunatelly, there are many result of scientific researches (Gm, bloodgroup, mitocondric DNA, etc.) published in many places urging to overview, reject of the present Finnougrian theory that was already done by Finnish scientists.

I would not go in more details in the topic now, let's have it here summarily, that the results of researches underline the Hungarians Innermost Asian origin, the reality of "Hunnish"-Hungarian relation. Of course this means not that Hungarians were not in contact with Finnougrians, but not as deep and form as it is explained by present official thesis.

As result of the superficial  review in case of Old Country the answer is given. It has to be somewhere in Innermost Asia. My question is if we could stop here telling, this is the final answer to the origin of Hungarian nation, or is there anything else to review?
Deeper look on the map will show that two areas fitting into this description. One is really in Innermost Asia, but the other one islocated around rivers Tigris and Euphrates in Mesopotamia.

Forefathers

Of the Hungarian Genealogy stands the following in Istvan Komjathy's book:
"The door covering curtain flapped up and Nemere stepped out to the plain in his golden embroidered white robe. Nemere, the glorious grandson of Wing of Beauty Plain. His father Tana was also a brave valiant, but Nemere exceeded even his father. The spirit of Wing of Beauty Plain was reborn in him."
His firstborn twins from the Scythian Eneh were Hunor and Magyar, whose mission from the Lord of Hosts was to find the Beauty Corner, that is the perfect reflection of the ideal original world.

Who Nemere, Tana and Wing of Beauty Plain could be?

The story of flood can also find among the legends of this book. Where told how Heavenly Golden Father helped Puszta (Plain), who had three sons, Flame of Beauty Fires' Flame, Good Wind's Blowing and Beauty Plains' Wing, to build a raft to escape them from the terrible flood, stating that "from this time on are we oppressed by Kalamona... because we are the nation of Golden Father escaping from the flood on a raft. That's why the dragon oppresses us, because we did not lean to the words of Ludverc."

Now we have a starting point. The more well known description of the flood is in the Bible, where stands that Noah, the only one who obeyed to God could escape from the divine punishment with his family (his wife, three sons (Japhet, Ham, Sem) and their wives) building an ark.

What we can firmly state that there is an event and a family in parallel in both sources:

Puszta (Plain)
- Flame of Beauty Fires
- Blow of Good Winds
- Wing of Beauty Plains
Noah
- Ham
- Japhet
- Shem

Interesting parallel, but is there any other reference to other persons of our legends?

Further reading the Bible comes a genealogy, showing that Kush, the son of Ham had a son called Nimrod, who built a strong empire on the Land of Sinear between the rivers Tigris and Euphrates. The Bible keeps Nimrod a mighty hunter and rebeller. For us the name is interesting as the name Nemere occurs also in the form of Nimrod, mentioned as mighty hunter, strong warlord and ruler. Is this similarity a coincidence only?
Well, even Assyrian accounts refer that Nimrud had twin sons, one of whose names was Magor, confirming the Hungarian myth.

The non theological history mentions a Sumerian ruler called Etana, who merges the until than separate city states of South Mesopotamia creating a strong empire connecting him to Babel, Akkad, Kalneh, etc. He started to build the gigantic zikkurat, that would be the place of worships first of all, but also a shelter against any new floods. This description fits to the biblical report of the activities of the ruler called Nimrod. The question is if this historic Etana could fit to the biblical Nimrod against the differences of the names?

The answer is: YES! The ruler in Sumerian were commonly called as the lords of panthers (Nimb Urshag), the most common and dangerous wilds of the area, in recognition of their power, as hunting leopards was the sport of the lords that time, requiring more craft and rapidity and observing as hunting lions, as panther is faster than a lion and can fade into the surroundings more easy.

However our legends claim Nemere (Nimrod) to be the son of Tana, according to the explanation above Etana could also be this Nimb Urshag, that title becoming personal name by the time could be the name of any of his descendants. This explains the similarities of the names Etana and Tana, also it's biblical interpretation as "mighty hunter", Nimrod.

It seems, that both geographical reports and personal names take us into Mesopotamia...
